Development Update

September 14th, 2007 by squidpunch

I personally don’t have Madden ‘08 (feel free to send me a copy EA), so I did not fully realize the amount of time it takes to manually enter your game statistics.  After talking with Ymiris it was pretty obvious that entering in your stats manually takes way to long.  I somewhat assumed this was going to be the case, but to get the system online as soon as possible I went with the manual approach.  Based on this, I have decided to make my top development priority a way to parse the stats email for our users - its a slow process and requires a bit of testing but I have made some serious headway.  My goal is to have this online and working by sometime this weekend.

Banner and art

September 14th, 2007 by ymiris

I am working on making a much better banner, the current one was taken from nfllust theme and it doesn’t really match what we need and I would like to have our own stuff. So if you notice this changing, you now know why.

Madden-stats.com Open For business

September 13th, 2007 by squidpunch

Once we actually saw that this could work out, Ymiris so went out and registered us a new home.  I have migrated all the code over to this new domain, so let me know if you see any problems but it should all function.  We still have alot of ideas in the works, but you should be able to register an account, add your games, and view your stats.

Development Status Update

September 12th, 2007 by squidpunch

the follwing is live and functional

  • Registration of new users is complete
  • Add games is functional but is not limited to the logged in user
  • View stats is functional but also is not limited to the logged in user
  • Log In and Log out are functional

The following are still in progress

  • Forgot password does not currently function
  • Edit Profile does not currently function
  • Modifications need to be made so that filters will only contain valid options, for example if there is no games for Squidpunch vs Ymiris the drop downs should not allow that as a possible selection to show stats.
  • Other various enhancements

Some Pretty nice progress

September 12th, 2007 by squidpunch

Most of the “ugly but functional” code i original put together for just a proof of concept has been migrated to integrate into the current site layout.  I just have to tidy up a few things so that it fits together seemlessly.  I also was able to start the authentication model.  Soon I can open up registration and the system can be used in a beta format.  Just have to finish up the sign up process, and migrate some of the ‘proof of concept’ code to run against the current logged in user.  So a few things can be done, such as:

  • remove one selection list, if you are logged in we know who you are, no use in selecting yourself to display the grids
  • again when adding games, we know who you are, so it will auto fill you as one of the players.
  • limit the game menu to be based on only the games you played
  • limit the opponent menu to be based on only opponents you have played

I have a few other ideas in the works, but they aren’t far enough along to even consider mentioning yet.

Development Begins

September 11th, 2007 by squidpunch

Well development officially started a little while back when Ymiris asked me if it was possible to make trending charts for his Madden ‘08 game states.  Currently a very rough version of the system is up and running, and as we expand up on the system here it will be made available to all.

Currently I am working on a nice site layout so you all aren’t using an extremely ugly, extremely bland interface to view your stats, as well as planning a registration and game submission process - etc etc etc.  There is plenty to do - but hopefully we can have at least a beta system ready to use in the very near future.
